Poincaré Plot for Heart Rate Variability

چکیده
Abstract—Heart is the most important part in the body of living organisms. It affects and is affected by any factor in the body. Therefore, it is a good detector for all conditions in the body. Heart signal is a non-stationary signal; thus, it is utmost important to study the variability of heart signal. The Heart Rate Variability (HRV) has attracted considerable attention in psychology, medicine and has become important dependent measure in psychophysiology and behavioral medicine. The standards of measurements, physiological interpretation and clinical use for HRV that are most often used were described in many researcher papers, however, remain complex issues are fraught with pitfalls. This paper presents one of the nonlinear techniques to analyze HRV. It discusses many points like, what Poincaré plot is and how Poincaré plot works; also, Poincaré plot's merits especially in HRV. Besides, it discusses the limitation of Poincaré cause of standard deviation SD1, SD2 and how to overcome this limitation by using complex correlation measure (CCM). The CCM is most sensitive to changes in temporal structure of the Poincaré plot as compared toSD1 and SD2.

ECG Artifacts and Poincaré Plot based Heart Rate Variability
The analysis of beat to beat fluctuations of heart rate known as heart rate variability (HRV) become a non-invasive clinical research tool to study the modulation that the autonomic nervous system exerts on the cardiovascular system. The missing RR intervals contribute a serious limitation to HRV analysis. The linear HRV measures are very sensitive to ECG artifacts. The objective of present stu...
متن کاملIlluminating of Premature Ventricular Contractions of Heart using Fractal Dimension and Poincaré plot methods
Premature ventricular contractions (PVC) are premature heartbeats originating from the ventricles of the heart. These heart beats occur before the regular heartbeat. PVC in patients with heart diseases (heart attacks, heart failure, diseases of the heart valves) may be associated with increased risks of developing ventricular tachycardia. A technique of nonlinear analysis, the fractal analysis ...
متن کاملEarly detection of sudden cardiac death using Poincaré plots and recurrence plot-based features from HRV signals
In this paper we present a method to predict sudden cardiac death (SCD) based on the heart rate variability (HRV) signal and recurrence plots and Poincaré plot-extracted features. This work is a challenge since it is aimed to devise a method to predict SCD 5 min before its onset. The method consists of four steps: preprocessing, feature extraction, feature reduction, and classification. In the ...
متن کاملEvaluation of the effects of aerobic exercise in the aqueous environment on heart rate variability by using Poincare plot nonlinear method
Background and Aim: Heart rate variability used as a non-invasive method to investigate the effect of aerobics exercise on the cardiac autonomic system. The aim of this study was the nonlinear analysis of the effect of aerobic exercise in the water on the cardiac autonomic system in academic youngchr('39')s males. Materials and Methods: A total of 28 young men were purposefully selected and ra...
متن کاملAnalysis of Slope Based Heart Rate Asymmetry using Poincaré Plots
Heart rate asymmetry (HRA) is considered as a physiological phenomenon seen in heart rates of healthy subjects. In this article, we propose a novel heart rate asymmetry index and assess the discriminative power of proposed index in comparison with conventional heart rate asymmetry indices. As an illustrative example we discriminate patients suffering from congestive heart failure (CHF) from a h...
